Accidents with homemade firework-bombs lead to a growing number of heavy injuries each year, causing two casualties in 2010. Sadly, communicating the dangers of homemade explosives does not yield results with this target group. Besides that Bomb-makers perceive the chance of being caught as practically nonexistent. To make an impact on this target audience an informative campaign is not the answer. That’s why we had to come up with a totally different approach.
Our idea: We increase the fear of getting caught by creating a true investigative unit: Task Force Investigation Firework Bomb-Makers.With this unit, we infiltrate the bomb-makers in the spot they use to display their craft and inspire others: YouTube. Here we confront all bomb-makers in person. And it works! Our Task Force rids YouTube of over 60% of the bomb-makers.We see a 5% decrease in explosive-related injuries. And zero casualties.
